Tripadvisor (Nasdaq: TRIP) helps travelers find and book experiences and research hotels. Its remaining segments are Experiences, including Viator, and Hotels and Other, which includes hotel-related referrals, media and advertising.

TheFork sale is complete

The sale of the European restaurant reservation platform to American Express Travel Related Services Company closed November 1, 2026, for $700 million in cash, subject to adjustments. The parties agreed transition services generally lasting 12 months.

The process began with a June put option agreement. After consultation with the French Works Council, Tripadvisor exercised that option in August and signed the purchase agreement. It had expected to complete the sale by the end of 2026.

The retained business

The latest reported financial quarter ended June 30, 2026. TheFork is already excluded as a discontinued operation, and the year-earlier figures below were recast on the same basis. All figures are USD millions; free cash flow is non-GAAP.

Cash, borrowing and the next report

At June 30, continuing operations held $843.2 million in cash, and $836 million remained to be repaid on its term loan. Earlier, on April 1, Tripadvisor repaid its maturing 2026 senior notes using existing cash.

The company’s financial report identified debt repayment and share repurchases as possible uses of net disposal proceeds. The November closing filing did not specify an allocation.

Third-quarter results and a discussion of the transaction are scheduled for November 5. Financial statements showing the disposal’s effects are due by that date.
