Materion's operating growth accelerated during 2026. Value-added sales rose 15% in the second quarter and about 19% in the third, with semiconductor demand a major driver. This measure removes pass-through metal costs rather than all raw materials.

Comparable third-quarter results, in millions except per-share figures. Sales, operating profit and net income are GAAP; value-added sales and adjusted earnings exclude specified items.
Measure2026, ended October 22025, ended September 26
Net sales$567.3$444.8
Value-added sales$313.7$263.9
Operating profit$50.4$34.9
Net income$38.3$25.4
Adjusted EPS excluding acquisition amortization$1.93$1.41

The annual adjusted earnings-per-share forecast moved from $6.80–$7.20 in August to $7.10–$7.40 in November. The latest analysis separates demand growth from metal pass-through sales.

Cash and financial commitments

Nine-month free cash flow rose to $84.8 million from $25.0 million. It deducts equipment purchases and mine development from operating cash flow. Cash generation benefited from quarter-end payment timing. Receivables sold fell to $8.1 million from $59.4 million.

At October 2, cash and cash equivalents were $15.4 million. Debt carrying value excluding leases was $397.0 million, compared with $458.8 million at the end of 2025. Long-term lease liabilities were a separate $12.3 million for finance leases and $61.9 million for operating leases.

The secured revolving facility has a $450 million commitment and matures in June 2030 alongside the term loan. Materion reported $275.7 million of available borrowing capacity and compliance with its debt covenants. It also used metals owned by consignors, with a notional value of $589.9 million; those arrangements reduce the need to fund metals inventory itself.

Customer funding also supports equipment. Long-term unearned income included $34.5 million of customer prepayments, released toward revenue as the related product orders are fulfilled. Remaining performance obligations for longer contracts were $119.6 million; that figure excludes contracts originally expected to last a year or less.

Expansion and capital spending

Materion completed the $19.5 million cash acquisition of Konasol's tantalum manufacturing assets in South Korea in July 2025. The facility serves semiconductor customers and is part of Electronic Materials.

The quarterly report forecasts about $75 million of equipment payments in 2026, apart from mine development. Its $50 million share-repurchase authorization remained unused at October 2.
