Henry Schein raised its outlook. What improved beyond a tariff refund?
A newly quantified tariff benefit matches the annual adjusted EPS midpoint increase. The underlying quarter also improves after removing both current and prior-year benefits.

Henry Schein raised the midpoint of its annual adjusted earnings forecast by $0.19 a share. The newly quantified net tariff refund benefit in its third-quarter earnings was also $0.19 a share.
The matching amounts help explain the upgrade. Management includes the refund alongside stronger underlying operations and targeted fourth-quarter investments intended to support growth in 2027.
The forecast comparison after the refund
Research by Ticker Byline shows that subtracting only the new third-quarter refund benefit from November's forecast leaves a midpoint of $5.34. That matches August's forecast midpoint, which excluded future tariff refund benefits.
| Forecast comparison | Range | Midpoint |
|---|---|---|
| August forecast | $5.29–$5.39 | $5.34 |
| November forecast | $5.50–$5.56 | $5.53 |
| November less the new $0.19 benefit | $5.31–$5.37 | $5.34 |
August's financial report had already said Henry Schein received additional refunds after its second quarter and expected to recognize their net impact in the third quarter. November adds the amount and its inclusion in the earnings outlook.
The underlying quarter is stronger too
The healthcare products and technology provider earned $1.56 a share on its usual adjusted measure in the quarter ended September 26, up from $1.38. That measure retains the current refund and a $0.23 gain in the prior year from revaluing investments when Henry Schein acquired control.
Removing those two benefits produces $1.37 versus $1.15, or 19.1% growth, in the company's further adjusted comparison. That is faster than the 13% increase in reported adjusted EPS.
Lower share count also helps per-share growth. Weighted-average diluted shares fell about 7%, while adjusted net income rose to $175 million from $167 million. GAAP net income attributable to Henry Schein rose to $119 million from $101 million.
Sales guidance holds as investment rises
The annual sales-growth forecast remains 4.5% to 5.5%. The adjusted EBITDA growth outlook improved from mid-to-high single digits to high single digits. EBITDA removes interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization; the adjusted measure also removes selected other items.
Quarterly internal sales growth, excluding currency effects and acquisitions, was 3.1%. U.S. dental merchandise grew 7% on that basis. Management pointed to volume and market-share gains.
Operating cash was $161 million, versus $174 million, and the company spent $125 million buying shares. Our Henry Schein company profile follows the refund adjustments, cash, debt and remaining repurchase authority.
