Insight's fastest-growing region just reported a loss
Sales in Asia-Pacific more than doubled, but the region slipped into the red. A deal completed last year helps explain the result.

Insight Enterprises lifted its 2026 adjusted earnings forecast on November 5, even as quarterly net profit fell 57%. The sharpest split sat inside its fastest-growing business: Asia-Pacific.
The technology reseller and services provider reported $120 million of sales in the region for the quarter ended September 30, up 104% from a year earlier. Gross profit more than doubled. Yet the region recorded a $22.3 million operating loss, against a $4.9 million profit a year earlier.
A bigger estimated bill for an earlier deal
Sekuro, the cybersecurity business Insight bought on October 31, 2025, helped drive the region's growth. It also accounted for a $36.9 million expense after Insight raised the estimated value of potential payments to its former owners.
Those payments, known as an earnout, depend on Sekuro reaching sales and profit targets through October 2027. The acquisition agreement lets the sellers earn up to A$122.5 million. The quarterly expense revalues that future obligation.
Research by Ticker Byline shows that adding back only the Sekuro earnout revaluation turns Asia-Pacific's $22.3 million operating loss into $14.6 million of operating profit. That calculation keeps the region's other expenses, including restructuring and stock-based compensation.
Insight's own adjusted operating profit for the region was higher, at $16.5 million, because it excludes those and other costs too. It rose from $6.4 million a year earlier.
The rest of the profit gap
Across the group, earnout revaluation expenses reached $38.6 million, compared with $3.8 million a year earlier. Severance and restructuring expenses also rose, to $25.7 million from $5.4 million, partly because of a voluntary separation program.
Those costs helped pull group operating profit down 26% to $68.7 million. Adjusted operating profit, which removes earnout revaluations, restructuring and several other expenses, increased 23% to $166.9 million.
Sales rose 22% to $2.44 billion. Hardware was the biggest driver, while cloud gross profit grew 26%. The mix of more lower-margin hardware trimmed group gross margin to 21.4%, from 21.7% a year earlier.
The tax bill added to the pressure on reported earnings. The effective tax rate rose to 49.9% from 27.9%, primarily because the earnout revaluation losses were not deductible. Net profit fell to $22.2 million, while adjusted net profit rose 28% to $107.3 million.
A higher target for the year
Insight now expects full-year adjusted earnings of $13.55 to $13.75 a share, up from the $12.20 to $12.70 range it set in August. Its gross-profit growth forecast rose to 12.5% to 14%, from 8% to 10%.
The stronger target reflects growth across the business. The next results will also show how much of that growth reaches reported earnings as restructuring costs and acquisition-related obligations develop.
