Federated Hermes wants $30 million in savings. What changes in London?
The asset manager proposes eliminating or moving about 200 positions. The cost overhaul follows a quarter of higher group revenue and profit.

Federated Hermes wants to reduce costs at its London-based subsidiary, even as the investment manager's group earnings grow. A proposed restructuring would eliminate or transfer about 200 positions to the United States and aims to save roughly $30 million a year before tax.
The November 4 announcement starts a consultation process. The company expects the changes at Federated Hermes Limited to be completed by the end of 2027.
The savings come with an upfront bill
Management expects about $15 million of pretax restructuring charges, mainly employee termination benefits. It anticipates $7 million in 2026 and $8 million in 2027.
The $30 million target mainly concerns annual compensation and related expenses. How many of the affected positions disappear and how many move to the U.S. will help determine what the new operation looks like. The filing gives a combined count, with the outcome subject to consultation.
Group profits have been moving higher
This is a targeted overhaul within a growing group. In the September quarter, reported on October 29, revenue increased 8% to $507.3 million. Operating income rose 18% to $153.3 million, and net income attributable to Federated Hermes increased 7% to $111.9 million.
Higher average equity assets and the second-quarter acquisition of FCP helped revenue. The acquisition also added compensation expense, so those group comparisons include an expanded business.
The asset mix matters
Total assets under management fell about $27.2 billion from June to $884.4 billion in September. Almost all of that change coincided with lower money-market assets. Equity assets reached a record $110.5 billion, while long-term strategies attracted $2.4 billion in net sales.
The London plan therefore sits alongside stronger profits and demand for parts of the product lineup. Its payoff depends on turning the proposed staffing changes into the promised lower annual cost base. The Federated Hermes company profile follows the restructuring timetable, financial results and cash position.
