Arista's record sales came with a $675 million inventory build
Sales and operating profit surged beyond earlier expectations. Our comparison isolates a quieter shift in quarterly operating cash and inventory funding.

Arista Networks delivered a much bigger quarter than it had forecast. Revenue reached $3.658 billion, up 58.5% from a year earlier and nearly 11% above August's approximately $3.3 billion outlook.
Inventory absorbed about $675 million in Q3. The deferred-revenue adjustment also became a small drag instead of the large source of cash-flow support seen a year earlier.
The quarter hidden inside the cash statements
Research by Ticker Byline shows that Q3 operating cash eased 5.3% to $1.201 billion, despite a 68% increase in GAAP operating profit. We isolated the quarter by subtracting the original six-month cash statement from the latest nine-month statement.
| Measure | 2026 | 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Operating cash flow | 1,200.9 | 1,268.2 |
| Inventory adjustment | -674.6 | -96.6 |
| Deferred-revenue adjustment | -26.4 | +624.3 |
The inventory adjustment used $578 million more cash than a year earlier. The deferred-revenue swing reduced cash-flow support by another $650.7 million. Stronger earnings and other cash-flow entries offset most of those movements, leaving operating cash down $67.3 million.
Deferred revenue includes unearned multiyear support revenue and product sales awaiting contractual acceptance. Those balances therefore move on a different timetable from recognized sales.
A strong business underneath the cash timing
GAAP operating profit rose to $1.642 billion from $978.2 million. Adjusted operating margin reached 49.1%, just above August's 48% to 49% forecast, though below Q2's 49.9%.
Adjusted EPS of $1.20 also beat the earlier $1.06 to $1.08 range. GAAP results included a $134.5 million pretax strategic-investment gain, which Arista removes from adjusted net income.
The cash picture remains substantial. Nine-month operating cash increased 28% to $3.98 billion. September cash and marketable securities totaled $14.36 billion, up from $13.34 billion in June.
The next sales step is already in the outlook
Arista expects Q4 revenue of $3.9 billion to $4.0 billion, with an adjusted operating margin of 48% to 49%. The next results can show how that larger sales base converts to cash after the inventory build.
